The loss of our dear friend, colleague and committee member, Gareth Steventon

Thu, 21 Oct 2021 12:58:00 +0000

We are all desperately sad and upset to let you know that our dear friend, colleague and committee member, Gareth Steventon, passed away on October 7th. He was an enthusiastic member of our TBF committee and was part of the group’s inception in 2011. Even before the TBF was formed, Gareth was an active, and from what I am led to believe, frequently vocal contributor as a FBE committee member for many years.

Cricket 2019

Wed, 07 Aug 2019 08:12:00 +0000

After the stress of late withdrawals and two revisions to the fixtures we all arrived on a sunny day at Cornwood CC, who once again were fantastic hosts. Due to the number of teams (was 14 ended up as 10) we changed the format to softball cricket with the two playing areas divided into four so we could have four games going on at one time. This meant we played on the outfield rather than the pristine artificial wicket. This proved to be a good leveller in terms of guys and girls who have and haven't played cricket.

Ten Pin Bowling 2019

Tue, 02 Jul 2019 09:36:00 +0000

With the 26 lanes at Tenpin sold in less than 48 hours, we knew it would be a frantic bowling event this year! The teams were all raring to go at 6pm on the dot but we had a short wait for lane 3 as a birthday celebration drew to a (very slow) close. Thank fully the lane was allocated to the Design Development team who waited patiently without complaint (much!).

Cricket Tournament Summer 2016

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 10:57:00 +0000

A patchy day of weather saw us finally hold our inaugural cricket tournament. Six teams formed from every facet of the building industry took each other on in the stunning setting of the Cornwood Cricket Club. There were plenty of boundaries, wides and a little claret throughout the day with each game played in great spirit. The deserved winners were Kier Construction, who managed to fend off the rest of the competition throughout the day.

Chairman's Message 2016

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 11:52:00 +0000

Happy 2016 to all! The Building Forum had a great year in 2015 running a series of fully attended events and making some substantial contributions to our chosen charities. Congratulations go to those fortunate enough to win our competitive events with Design Development winning our bowling night and ADG Architects being successful in our golf day. Unfortunately, the weather was the only winner in or inaugural cricket event but we will try again this year.
